Boring Day- SPY ETF Flat

Today was a boring day before the market opens. I couldn't find anything to buy or sell. The SPY ETF (S&P 500 index fund) was just sitting in the middle, not really moving in any direction. It's days like these that make me feel like a rookie trader. Hopefully tomorrow will bring more opportunities.

Rookie Trader's Regret: Lessons Learned from Selling Apple and Meta Stock Early

I deeply regret selling all my Apple stock at $196.  Just four days later,  it surged to $208. Why did I make such a hasty decision? The sell signals seemed strong, and I lost faith in Apple due to their silence on AI advancements. However, immediately after WWDC2024, the stock price jumped significantly. This isn't the first time this has happened; I made a similar mistake with Meta stock. Lesson learned: When dealing with good stocks, it's wiser to sell only half of my holdings when faced with a strong sell signal. Yesterday, I start studying swing trading from scratch here...  https://www.swing-trade-stocks.com/swing-trading-basics.html This is what I learned and this will be my new strategy. 4 Stages - There are 4 stock market stages. Bottom, uptrend, top, and downtrend 5 Waves - There are 5 uptrend Elliott waves and 3 correction waves. Buy on wave 2. Hold on Wave 3. Sell on wave 4.  Trends - Trade trending stocks. Characterized by higher highs and higher lows.  Identify a new trend using Trader Vic's 3-step method. 1. A trendline is broken. 2. There is a retest and failure. 3. Price falls below the prior low. Use the 10 (SMA) and 30 (EMA) period moving average crossover scan for step 2. Step 3 confirms trend change. Does not work in a sideways trading range.  Bulls and Bear - The 200 SMA is used to separate bull territory from bear territory.  Support and Resistance - Stocks do not find support or run into resistance on moving averages.
