A Slow Day in the Market: The Rookie Trader's Perspective

I am the Rookie Trader, and it looks like the premarket is down. 

AAL, one of my holdings, shot up 9.71%, but it is still in the red. 

UAA is almost there, but not today. So, I have nothing to sell today. 

SPY is neutral, and there is no buy signal today. 

I am wondering how money can be made when there is nothing to buy or sell.
